Ellie Downie might only be 16 years old, but she's already causing waves in the sporting world, having won bronze at last year's European Championships to become the first female gymnast to win an individual all-around medal for Great Britain.

The Nottingham based gymnast, who has followed in the famous footsteps of her older Olympian and gymnast sister Becky Downie, first competed at the 2014 European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she won a gold on vault, and a team silver and a bronze in the all-around competition. Downie was next selected to compete at the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, where she picked up four medals. As well as winning the 2015 BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award, Downie managed to take her GCSEs last year. With more championships and the Olympics in Rio coming up, this rising star is set to make quite an impression.
